Unusual, colorful birds, butterflies, and insects of all kinds are drawn to the abundance of food sources and shelter derived from the flora of the prairie. More than 100 pounds of a Chicagoland genome seed mix was sown in the spring of 2007 over this two-plus acre tract. The seed mix contains many varieties of native grasses and forbs, like the Asters, Echinace, and Rudbeckia that blanketed this area hundreds of years ago.
