Unusual, colorful birds, butterflies, and insects of all kinds are drawn to
the abundance of food sources and shelter derived from the
flora of the prairie. More than 100 pounds of a Chicagoland
genome seed mix was sown in the spring of 2007 over this
two-plus acre tract. The seed mix contains many varieties of
native grasses and forbs, like the Asters, Echinace, and Rudbeckia that blanketed this area hundreds of years ago.
