Featured on Pinterest!--Upcycled Hypertufa Container

Mar 16, 2013 09:00 AM

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED FOR THIS EVENT!

Do you love Pinterest? We do! We thought it would be fun to feature a class based on a popular "pin" on Pinterest.

Create a small-to-medium-sized hypertufa container from re-purposed materials. Upcycling typically puts unwanted/unused items to a new and improved use. Our forms or molds will use upcycled containers from the local Goodwill and/or thrift stores. We will have a variety of containers that we have purchased for your use but you are welcome to bring a suitable "mold" from home--perhaps a container that is collecting dust at your house and you do not intend to reuse. A plasic bowl 3-4 qt. sized capacity is the size we are shooting for. (tip: silicone and plastic containers are super-easy to unmold later!)

We will supply the ingredients to create your container. Please bring a smallish piece of plywood, unwanted/old cookie sheet or super sturdy piece of cardboard to carry your container home AND a 5 gallon plastic bucket/container to mix your slurry in. This tends to be is a very messy project and we would suggest wearing clothing that you won't mind getting cement on. If you enjoyed making mud pies as a kid--you're going to like this activity!

Entrance is at Shaffner Road gate. Class fee is $35 per person. Click here to register online and pay by debit/credit card
